In the coarse of creating animations, I've developed a number of 3d font
sets in the Imagine object format. I found these very valuable for
flying logos and even complex animations, and thought I'd make them
available to everyone. I also thought I'd make them affordable, none of
this $150.00 stuff.
The set includes 14 'very cool high quality' font sets. There's 1,152
separate objects in all. The objects have the axis aligned along the
base-line of each character: all you have do is choose the characters
the word you want, and slide them along the X axis until they are spaced
the way you like.
Too good to be true? See for yourself. Just view the Example.iff
picture to see Sci-Fi Type (TM) in action. All 14 Sci-Fi Type fonts are
pictured. (BTW this entire picture was rendered with Imagine, Essense
,and Sci-Fi Type).
This archive also includes 'Ultra', one of the 14 fonts you'll find in
the full version.

Using Sci Fi Type
---------------------------------------------
First, you'll need to load Imagine and get to the detail editor. From
the OBJECT menu select LOAD. Set the path to the "ULTRA" directory that
this archive created (ie WORK:3dfonts/ultra). Click on the object of
your choice and press OK. Voila, simple logo design!
The object descriptions are named after the characters they represent.
All lower case letters are designated by a '_' before the name (ie
_a.obj is 'a', Q.obj is Q).
Working on words is a little more complicated but not much. We'll work
with the word SciFi. Clear out all objects to avoid confusion. Load
the objects; "S.obj","_c.obj", "i_obj", "F.obj", and "_i.obj" (yep do
the i twice).
You'll now see 5 objects all on top of one another. Use Imagine's find
command to locate the first letter, in this case "S", and selected it
with F1. Now press the M key followed by SHIFT_X to tell Imagine to
only move the first letter along the X-axis. With your mouse move the S
to the left (5 to 6 times the width of the letter). Now repeat this
process on the rest of the objects until all the letters are visible.
Now that you have a readable word, I suggest zooming in and fine-tuning
the spacing of the letters along the X-axis. For more info on the
spacing of characters (Kerning), pick up any book on desktop publishing.
Once the spacing of your word is perfect, select all the objects in the
word "SciFi" and JOIN them together. That's it. At this point you
could extrude, spin, or color your newly created object (don't forget to
save it).

Special Thanks:
-------------------------------------------------
Special thanks go to Alex DeBurie of 'The Art Machine', without his help
much of this wouldn't have been possible. I would also like to thank
the rest of my friends and family who tolerate my 3d antics :).
